Chocolate Kefir Smoothie (Low FODMAP, Gluten Free & Sugar Free)

Benny Joy SmithComment

Summer is truly a season of smoothies. I don't know what it is about hot weather that makes us want to take perfectly good, fresh ingredients and whizz it up into baby food, but all I know is I am hooked! The delicious concoction of fruits, dairy and seeds have me salivating on a regular basis, and no, I am not ashamed to admit that.

There is however one issue with smoothies, and I know I can't be the only one with this problem, and that is the amount of fruit. Don't get me wrong, if I could I would consume fruit all day 'eryday! But due to IBS and being a fructose malabsorber, too much fruit equals too much toot (if you get my drift). It can get incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing to say the least, so to lessen my symptoms I have had to reduce my intake of fruit considerably.

But alas, I have found a way to join you in your consumption of blended goodness, and here it is; the Chocolate Kefir Smoothie! This delicious smoothie has a good amount of fruit, sweetness and chocolate, plus is probiotic and sugar free! The kefir adds a wonderfully tangy twist to what could be quite a rich beverage and due to the high amount of the stuff, you know you're doing good things for your gut. Hoorah! By adding chia seeds, you add a powerful punch of omega 3, antioxidants and protein, helping to give your body a boost of important nutrients. Plus these super little suckers will help keep you feeling full for longer.

Talk about a groovy smoothie. What are you waiting for? Your blender is waiting.
